Chimney Sweep and Children

The composition of this photograph is both unusual and intriguing. In the foreground there is a little boy so close to camera that he is out of focus. There is a little girl to the left of the frame who is slightly blurry as well, perhaps because she is in motion. Directly behind the boy stands an elderly man in a uniform. Though it is hard to be certain, it seems like his is looking a little passed the camera and not directly at it. They are all in a field with a deteriorating shack in the background of the right-hand side. This work brings out a lot of questions for the viewer such as the relationship between the man and the two young children and what the shack is behind them.
