New York City 1968 (6)

This photograph is of a man with his arm stretched out to receive money or an object from a person passing by. The person who is giving something to the man is not photographed, only his arm. The situation of this photograph is not quite clear, the man could possibly be homeless and accepting money, yet he seems well dressed. The street that the man is standing on is rather empty, leaving the man looking isolated in New York City. Perhaps Winogrand wanted to capture the relationships and encounters between strangers on a daily bases.
