This exact location remains to be identified. Possibly this is the Wolf's Point area which is on the west side of the Chicago River looking south at the Butler Brothers Building and and the Lake Street Bridge.

This view shows the west bank of the Chicago River, south of Kinzie Street and its truss bridge. A tall warehouse stands with a freight car yard in the foreground. One of the cars is labeled with the logo of the "Santa Fe," also "A.T. & S.F.," railroad.

The photo shows a man and a woman as pedestrians. The trolley is labeled "N State Street." The building on the right across the river is the John M. Smythe & Co. furniture business, apparently a warehouse.

This photograph is one of a series taken by Edward H. Bennett in preparation for designing Wacker Drive which is north and west of the central business district in Chicago.
The photograph captures a trolley car traveling across the north-south State Street Bridge; further east is the "Graham & Morton Line" building, according to a summer 1915 schedule in a brochure for the St. Joseph, Michigan-based G & M Line. The Chicago office was at the end of Wabash street at the river.

This is one of a series of study photographs taken by Edward H. Bennett, 1913-1915, in preparation for designing Wacker Drive, along the river north and west of the central business district, Chicago.
Shown in the upper part against the sky is a sign for the Chicago headquarters of the Peninsular Stove Company, a Detroit firm. It was one of the five most prominent Detroit stove firms in an era when Detroit was a dominant manufacturer. The office of the stove firm in Chicago was at 434 Canal Street, indicating that this shows the west side riverbank south of the future Union Station.
The warehouses also show a loading dock with horse-drawn freight wagons.

Shown behind the bridge, according to the sign painted on the building is the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad freight house no. 5. The 1914 telephone book lists the downtown freight headquarters as Kinzie Street. The bridge is also labelled "Kinzie" on the lower right.
This is one of a series of 1913-1915 river views north and west of downtown Chicago by Edward Bennett in preparation for redevelopment of the riverbanks and Wacker Drive.
