Franklin P. Smith Estate, Deerpath, Lake Forest, Illinois--house 'Dining room '52'

Lake Forest (Ill.)

This is an interior view of the apparently east-facing dining room of the 1901 Franklin P. Smith estate house, on East Deerpath (700 block, south side; demolished).  This interior in a Tudor/Stuart-period manner may reflect ca. 1920 work on the house by Marshall & Fox, Benjamin Marshall, designer.  The ceiling displays strapwork-design molding.  Other features include leaded glass windows, wall sconces, Georgina silver and a Georgian sideboard.  The apparent east end of the room ends a in abay with windows on the two 45-degree-angle sides.  The photo was donated by Carol Blomquist from a Durand/Smith family archive given to her by Daisiana Smith Giles.
