I was put in charge of the "Food Committee" and [the cafeteria workers] had to run the menu for each month past me to get approval. So once a month, a couple of friends and I would go down to this dining room in the basement of the cafeteria and get the best service. We had a tablecloth, actual plates and silverware and they would serve us things like filet or fresh fish or fresh salads. We NEVER had fresh food. Everything came from a can. Everything. The vegetables and the fruit had to be left out to thaw after they came out of the can. It was disgusting. But since I was this VIP, we got all this incredible food served to us as if we were in a restaurant. If they could have gotten away with it, they would have just given us money to try and get approval.
