Shown behind the bridge, according to the sign painted on the building is the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad freight house no. 5. The 1914 telephone book lists the downtown freight headquarters as Kinzie Street. The bridge is also labelled "Kinzie" on the lower right.
This is one of a series of 1913-1915 river views north and west of downtown Chicago by Edward Bennett in preparation for redevelopment of the riverbanks and Wacker Drive.
