Deerpath Hall (2001 - ) - Interior
Description
The newly renovated Deerpath Hall with its common-area cafe as seen, from behind the counter. The cashier is present and various food items are on display. A line of students waits to be served.
With the 1962 construction of the new Commons, now renovated as Stuart Commons, campus dining was centralized to promote interaction among the newly integrated/integrating students. Everybody ate together and at set meal times.
By 2000 and with the opening of this new casual dining venue in the newly renovated Deerpath Hall, this co-mingling for all dining in a "Commons" was less of an issue than adapting to diverse student life rhythms and dining patterns based on the casual lifestyles of the previous almost forty years.
