Subject

Lake Forest (Ill.)

Description

This view looks east from the early 1920s built, Marshall & Fox designed entertaining room across the pool to the landscape leading northeast to Deerpath. On the right is a new formal garden, in the center the pool, and on the left the apparently new south approach to the 1901 east porch. IN front of the pool on its west side are three frog sculptures.  Eight urns flank the long north and south side of the pool.  The landscape beyond reflects the renovation of the Henry Durand landscape by O. C. Simonds, 1912 (the plan is at the LF-LB Historical Society).  This image was donated by Carol Blomquist, given to her in turn as part of a Durand/Smith family photo archives by the late Daisiana Smith Giles.
