Lake Forest Academy campus, then west of the City of Lake Forest, ca. early 1950s

Title

Lake Forest Academy campus, then west of the City of Lake Forest, ca. early 1950s

Subject

Lake Forest Academy

Description

This plan, separately printed, shows the Lake Forest Academy campus after the institution moved in 1948 to the former J. Ogden Armour estate, then west of the city limits of Lake Forest (now annexed). This layout appears to show the campus while work was ongoing by Chicago architect Bertram Weber, a former Howard Shaw associate. The Mellody Farm main house (labeled here "1") had been named Reid Hall in honor of the old main on the east Lake Forest 1893 Academy campus, it having burned in 1946.  Probably created for use in a borchure or publication, there is no legend to accompany and identify the numbered buildings.
