University of Illinois library rendering, Georgian style: Charles M. White, archit., Charles A. Platt, associated, Champaign-Urbana, IL

Title

University of Illinois library rendering, Georgian style: Charles M. White, archit., Charles A. Platt, associated, Champaign-Urbana, IL

Description

This rendering of the original library building of the University of Illinois appears in The Chicago Architctural Exhibition League's Year Book... and Catalogue of the Thirty-seventh Annual Exhibition, 1924 (Chicago: the League, 1924).

Charles A. Platt had designed the central campus of the downstate U. of Illinois campus, and White was the on-site architect for the structure, within Platt's larger scheme.  Though this is not a tall building, it shows the vocabulary for Georgian classicism being employed to good effect.
