This is the 110-page catalog for the University programs in Lake Forest, to be distinguished from the Lake Forest University programs in Chicago, a different series. These programs in Lake Forest included two preparatory schools, Ferry Hall for young women (since 1869) and Lake Forest Academy for young men (since 1858). The College (1859-63 for men; relaunched 1876 as coed).
This was the second year of the presidency of Lake Forest University by Dr. the Rev. James G. K. McClure, also Pastor then of the First Presbyterian Church. Lake Forest (adjacent). In 1896 the University had decided to divest itself of the Chicago programs--Law, medicine and dentistry schools there. By 1898 there remained affiliated in Chicago only the law and dentistry schools.
This volume includes catalogs for each of the three schools, with a listing of the students in each group. The faculies of all three are listed at the front of the book, with the trustees, etc. and general information.
