This letter in the envelope shown accompanied the five small photographs of 1917 U.S. Army Hospital train cars sent by Maj. Gen'l. Hugh F. Foster, Jr. to Arthur D. Dubin, Highland Park, IL, in 1986.
There are two exterior views and three interior views of 1917 hsopital cars pictured.

Maj. General Foster, 1918-2004, served in world War II with the Camanche code whisperers, and remained interested in Indian matters throughout his life. He also served in subsequent conflicts, attended the Army War College, etc.
Dubin, Lake Forest ASTP '47, was a Ul. of Michigan trained architect living in Highland Park, IL, who attended lake Forst College in 1943 in the Army Special Training Program. He was an expert on railroad passenger cars and their design and vafriations.
