"James R. Getz: Collector & Activist"
Title
"James R. Getz: Collector & Activist"
Subject
Getz, James R., 1910-1986
Description
During the decade following Mr. Getz's death in 1986 the Donnelley Library, in cooperation with the College's development office, offered annual James R. Getz Lectures. In February of 1995, a year after Arthur H. Miller became Archivist and Librarian for Special Collections following his service a College Librarian, 1972-94, he gave this lecture for the annual event. It offers biographical information about Mr. Getz's life and career in Lake County, IL, as mayor of Mettawa, 1960-86, and as a local historian, philanthropist, and promoter of local organizations and institutions. Mrs. Getz remained actively interested in the library through the rest of her life, until her own passing 2009.
