This talk was given as one half of the October 25, 1995 Ruth Winter Community Lecture, 8 pm at Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel, Middle Campus, Lake Forest College. The other "half" of the program was Ragdale Foundation executive director Michael Wilkerson's accompanying talk on the Ragdale Foundation, the local artists' community. Miller--Archivist and Librarian for Special Collections, library--was president of the Ragdale Foundation board of directors at the time, as well.
