A wood engraving done by John W. Evans for Alphaeus P. Cole. This engraving was of his father, Timothy Cole. Evans had worked for Cole earlier.
Timothy Cole was an American wood engraver whose works included reproductions of Dutch, Italian, Flemish, and English pictures. He took part in the Paris Expedition of 1900, and won a medal of first class.
His son, Alphaeus, was a noted portraitist.
The coated paper measures 12 in. by 9 in.; the engraving itself measures 6 in. by 5 in.
