Nightshade has had many different uses throughout history, but has been present in many different cultures for thousands of years. Its most common use has been as a hallucinogenic drug, but due to its toxicity it has also been used as a toxin. It has also been associated with beauty and love, some people make salves out of it for their skin. Nowadays, it is more often used as an offering or for ritual work and has a much less negative connotation than it once had.
