Title

Patterson Lodge, entry facade from south (1993-to present state)

Subject

Patterson Lodge

Description

A colored photo of the front of Patterson Lodge with the original white porch restored to the building, 1993. The setting sun casts a glow on the building during what appears to be late fall, winter, or early spring due to the leafless trees. The building now houses the Admissions and Financial Aid offices of Lake Forest College.

"Patterson Lodge originally served as the president's house, though it was built after Presdifent Patterson's 1875-78 tenure, in 1880 during President Gregory's term (1878-1885). It is first recorded with the name "Patterson" when it was refurnished in 1927 as a residence hall for women. Later, the building served as administrative offices and as housing for faculty and staff " (Elizabeth A. Birnbaum on Patterson Lodge in "Lake Forest College: A Guide to the Campus," 2007, pp. 33-34, with some dates added by Arthur H. Miller).
