North Hall, southeast corner
Title
North Hall, southeast corner
Subject
North Hall
Description
A black and white photo taken of North Hall from the southeast side. Cars can be seen parked near the building. The vantage point shows the rail fence recently constructed in the 1990s, in the style of earlier times. This summer view shows the window air conditioners in this 1880 building little changed, except for fire compliance, since it became an administrative center in 1953. On the east side of the building are housed on the first floor, the business office, on the second the Dean of Faculty office, and on the third and fourth floors the Alumni and Development offices.
North Hall was constrcuted by Leon C. Welch in 1880 for Lake Forest Academy, but in 1893 North Hall was converted into a dormitory for Lake Forest College. After 1950 North Hall housed and presently houses the Business and Administration department of the College (Elizabeth A. Birnbaum on North Hall in "Lake Forest College: A Guide to the Campus," 2007, pp. 34).
