Lake Forest Academy building, 1865-1879, with Baker engraving, 1869

Title

Lake Forest Academy building, 1865-1879, with Baker engraving, 1869

Subject

Lake Forest Academy

Description

This engraving appears on p. 1 of a 4-page 1869 circular for Lake Forest Academy, boys' preparatory school, and the new then Ferry Hall, ladies' seminary and girls' preparatory school.

The enraving appears to be signed "Baker", very likely W. D. Baker, a notable engraver, who was later associated with Jacob Manz, who did later engravings for Lake Forest University.

The location is the first of two image notebooks for Thirty Miles North... by Franz Schulze et al., the 2000-published College history.  These notebooks are shelved in a small file cabinet adjacent to the Lake Forest College archives subject files cabinets.
