Description
This is a photograph reproduced in The Stentor, Lake Forest College, May 3, 1906 (v. 20, no. 25), [289], showing the Lake Forest Academy building as it appeared after its 1865 expansion. It burned in 1879. This building also incubated the original Lind University Collegiate Department, men only, in ca. 1859-63. The Stentor story is titled "The Old Academy" ane thpicture was taken 1974-79, according to the 1906 account.
The scan was done by Tim Gallagher, then a Lake Forest College faculty spouse and photographer, in 2000 for its use in Lake Foreest: Estates, Popel and Culture published that year (p. 19).
