For Old Onwentsia

Title

For Old Onwentsia

Subject

Onwentsia club, Lake Forest, Ill.

Description

In the form of a letter to members of the "Onwentsia Club," this is an argument against a proposed alteration of the 1896 laid out golf course. It begins with a considerably detailed rehearsal of the history of the club, beginning with "a miniature seven holes upon the lawn of...Senator C. B. Farwell, and the adjoining public park of Lake Forest" (p. 2). At the end of the document, on p. 18, is a list of "members who sent in postals favoring the OLD COURSE..."
