Description
Photographed here on June 4, 1977, after the annual Commencement ceremony where he read his now-well-known "Popovers" poem with its advice for the graduates, Dr. Seuss Theodor Seuss Geisel, 1904-1991) posed for the unnamed photographer with the six year old Janelle Aileen Miller (Moravek) of Lake Forest, the daughter of then College Librarian Arthur H. Miller. The location is the the deck of the 1964-completed Donnelley Library, at the northeast corner, main floor, showing from within what are the drapes of the Librarian's office. Robing for the annual Commencement for faculty, distinguished guests and trustees was in the Librarian's Office. This photo apparently was taken as "Dr. Seuss" returned from the graduation ceremony outdoors northwest of the library.
